rooted in community

A place where children and teens discover, create, and grow — through nature, hands-on science, and real-world learning that actually sticks.

Wildwoods Learning was born from a simple but urgent observation: our kids are failing in school — not for lack of effort, but by design.

After years working in education, I watched curious kids get quieted, creative thinkers get redirected, and young people graduate without the skills, confidence, or connections they need to thrive. Too many were leaving school lonely, uncertain, and unprepared — not because they weren't capable, but because they never had the chance to find out what they were capable of.

Wildwoods Learning is my answer to that gap. It's a place where curiosity is celebrated, where learning happens through doing, and where every child belongs to something real. We bring together outdoor exploration, project-based learning, and hands-on science to give kids experiences that build them from the inside out.

My vision is a generation of individuals who nurture their communities, think critically, accomplish their goals, respect nature and all people, and never stop learning. That's what Wildwoods is working toward, one program at a time.

Read-Aloud Book Club

Ages 6–11 · Enrolling now for Fall 2026

Every great reader starts as a great listener. Three afternoons a week, kids gather in a small group to hear rich, classic stories read aloud, then respond through guided narration, discussion, and games that bring each chapter to life. Sessions designed to support kids who are still building reading confidence, and the group stays small enough that every child can get real, individual attention.

What a session looks like

  • Warm-up & community circle — connecting as a group before we dive in
  • Read-aloud, paragraph by paragraph — with guided narration prompts to build comprehension
  • A story-connected game or activity — from sequencing story pictures to acting out scenes
  • Occasionally reading outdoors, weather permitting

Billed weekly at $36 (three sessions a week, roughly 12 sessions per month). Enrollment is capped at 12 kids so every child gets to be known, not just counted. Programs end when the book is finished (varies by group).

Scientific Inquiry Club

Science isn't a textbook — it's a way of thinking. In this club, kids and preteens follow their own questions into hands-on experiments, meaningful research, and real discovery. The curriculum is shaped by the group's curiosity, not a worksheet stack, so every session goes somewhere unexpected. Students build the habits of mind that make great scientists: observing carefully, thinking critically, and never being satisfied with "I don't know."

Young Naturalist Club

The outdoors is the best classroom there is — if you know how to read it. Young naturalists learn to identify local plants and birds, track weather patterns, and build foundational wilderness safety skills. Each session deepens their relationship with the natural world around them, turning everyday walks into opportunities for wonder, observation, and belonging to something larger than themselves.
